I loved the subtle twist. At first I thought maybe you were speaking of a sickly son, but then realized you were speaking of a fuzzy one!
I liked the breaks and the way you chose to do that with little symbols that looked elemental and matched the ambience of the piece.
I loved the translation of your dogs knowing or telling looks into language—underscoring the unspoken bond between you two.
I liked the peace of the porch and the triumphant chaos of the lizard chase. If there was any question I had, I wondered how the lizard got away tail-less if he went in head first and the tail was dangling. I had to reread that part but I figured maybe the damage had been done in the first grab and let it go. :)
That's a valid question, and I'm glad you pointed it out. I suppose my focus was mostly on keeping the story light and full of grace and didn't want any violent depictions. Looks like I missed the mark on some details that may have been needed. Thank you very much for you review and comments. Seriously!
